Cancelling cap and trade is a short-sighted policy that does nothing to fight climate change nor reduce our energy costs. A better solution would be to target those who are most affected by the cost increases of using carbon to help them reduce their energy consumption and associated costs by offering affordable and accessible energy efficiency products and services. This would benefit both low-income Ontarians and make companies more efficient and lean, improving their competitiveness and reputation on the world stage. This policy also impacts our reputation and makes Ontario a pariah among all potential investors for whom human-caused climate change is a real issue that needs to be combated. The fact this government is spending taxpayer money to fight legal battles as a result of this only adds insult to injury.

As it is now, Ontario has no plan to fight climate change and this policy demonstrates they do not believe it is a real issue. Unfortunately it is our children and grandchildren who will pay for this policy.
