The greenbelt as it is…

The greenbelt as it is currently mapped allows green space and environmental diversity in areas of high density or future high density neighbourhoods. Changing these designations is not going to allow the residents of these communities to have green space in their neighbourhoods. High density neighbourhoods require space for residents to have some form of natural habitats in their communities. Ajax and Pickering in particular are dense and have environmentally sensitive areas that should be left alone. The tilling of the environmentally sensitive lands in Pickering is a travesty that I hope will be investigated soon and with an eye to restoring that habitat.
