In the GTA we have a significant need for more housing supply. The way to do this is to build up not out. By developing high rise and multi-family or clustered housing types we can meet our housing needs without irrevocability destroying the best agricultural land in Canada and mother nature. We need to let going of the archaic notion that everyone needs a detached single-family home. That approach is wasteful, sustainable and should not be our future.

The Greenbelt in Ontario is something that should be preserved forever. There is no point to designating land as conservation land if we just decide to destroy it as soon as there is pressure. We cannot take the attitude that "conserving" or offsetting the damage to the green belt is OK. It is not. The water we drink, the food we eat and the land we call home are not fungible.

If we do not protect the land now, when we have a chance, our future generations will look back and be ashamed that their ancestors were so short-sighted, greedy, and foolish.

As out leaders you have the opportunity to do what is right, set the right precedent. You have a choice between the easy way and the right way. Choose the right way.
