Expanding the urban boundary is against the wishes of the voting public in Hamilton. The provincial government forcing the urban boundary expansion is undemocratic at the best.

What the people of Hamilton and southern Ontario need is not more urban sprawl which will only encourage more people onto our already congested highways to get to and from their work. Urban expansion will also increase the burden of maintaining city services such as water/wastewater and roads when Hamilton is already falling behind on in other areas of the city. If you want to increase the tax base for the city it would be more prudent to intensify housing in the current city limits, that would have limited cost increase to maintain city services vs. expanding into new land.

Hamilton residents want to keep their current green space, including local farms and they voted as such. Overriding this choice is wrong and reeks of crony capitalism. Shame.
