Opening up the greenbelt to new development only benefits developers. Unless significant effort is placed in building smaller more affordable homes that are specifically targeted to first time home buyers, nothing will change. Wealthy people will continue to buy up multiple homes driving rental and housing prices up.
In addition, the greenbelt contains some of the province’s most environmentally sensitive areas that can never be replaced if development occurs in and around them.
