Rondeau is a provincial park. It may have been originally set up for cottages but that was then and times have changed. There should not be any cottages in this provincial park and it should be reverted to a natural environmental state. The park belongs to all of the people of Ontario and any others who wish to visit and enjoy its natural beauty. Having it full of parked cars in driveways and cottages brimming with recreational paraphernalia and reducing the natural habitat is simply wrong in todays environmental consciousness.
I would ask the Ontario Ministry to do the right thing and make this provincial park a park and not a summer recreational playground for wealthy cottagers. The right thing to do is to have the cottagers leave and so it may as well be now rather than wait two more years. The cottagers must be able to read the writing on the wall that their time is up so why prolong the situation? Take the necessary steps to have them leave now and give mother nature a chance to make the park what it should be, a beautiful natural setting.
As a campground the environmental imprint left by weekend or weekday campers is dramatically less that full time cottagers coming and going. If cottagers in provincial parks is such a good idea why don't cottages exist in every provincial park? They don't because it's a bad idea and it is wrong. Therefore, the same should apply to Rondeau, no cottagers and the sooner they leave the better.
