The Rondeau Park Plan should not be amended to facilitate the extension of damaging cottage leases, but instead, should be directed to establish a plan and timetable to phase out cottage leases and rehabilitate the sites for the benefit of ecological biodiversity in the region and greater benefit of ALL citizens of Ontario.

Rondeau Provincial Park is a small, unique and the remaining home of a number of endangered species. It is located in an area where natural areas are grossly under-represented in the Carolinian zone. The highest and best use of this land which belongs to ALL residents of Ontario is to protect this small and endangered ecosystem and for the benefit of Ontario citizens. The privileged Americans and Canadians who have held long-term leases have had a long subsidized ride and ample warning that their leases may not be renewed.

Selling off or extending leases for rare parkland will result in redevelopment and increased damage. It is the wrong thing to do and a breach of trust.
