Rondeau Management Plan ERO 019-6142
This is 2022, Cottages have been in the park for over a hundred years, and there is no proof that they have harmed the environment of the park.
Has there been roadkill of Chipmonks (yes), Snakes (yes) Turtles (yes), but who has done this? Has been day users driving thru the park (yes). Has it been cottage owners (yes), and it has been Ontario Parks Staff driving continually on these roads with there many Park Trucks. I do not know which has hit the most, but I know who na sayers are going to accuse. Even with the odd road kill, the species are
not at risk in this park because of cottagers. I believe that the Wild Turkey, which the MNR introduced back into Ontario, eats more five line skinks in the park than what gets run over on the road.. That is just my thought on this because of the Wild Turkey population in the park, and there diet of skinks. I also believe cottages provide habitat for these skinks, which helps them thrive and flourish in the park.
So I say, KEEP THE COTTAGES IN THE PARK.
