I'm just an average citizen hoping that my son has a great future in the GTA. I'm also a cyclist who enjoys cycling outside of the city. I also regularly hike the Bruce Trail and other hiking areas. Over the years, I've noticed the loss of beautiful green spaces, farmland, beautiful quiet roads around the GTA. One of the things that made the GTA fantastic was the ability to escape into nature. I have to drive farther and farther out of the city to find the spots that were closer to town. I hate that I'm adding to congestion but getting out of concrete and traffic is so important.

When the Ford government was first elected, they said they wouldn't touch the Greenbelt. What a betrayal and lie. There is enough existing space for housing without adding to sprawl. Intensifying in already built neighbourhoods is a very viable alternative. If you look at Europe, the cities aren't full of single family homes. They are full of apartments. Look at the disaster in England as they chose to sprawl out of London.

Most suburbs are like wastelands. The traffic is worse than in Toronto. Nowhere to walk to. Wide roads with speeding cars. Big houses that most people don't need except for vanity. Who needs 6000 square feet? Nobody on this planet. Why sacrifice all this space that millions can enjoy so that a few get to have more than they need.

You have betrayed the citizens and it is outrageous. This is protected land and no government should encroach. Housing is not a good enough reason to destroy this important land. There are many alternatives but it doesn't suit the developers. As a government, you are beholden to the people and not the developers. This is shameful
