This is a terrible proposal. Doug Ford commited in 2018 not to remove any lands from the greenbelt, and now here we are giving away greenbelt land to developers and gutting Conservation Authority powers. Not to mention taking away cities rights to elevate their own building codes to better address the climate crisis. There are many ways to accelerate building homes in Ontario, these ones just make developers rich.
Why not try approving secondary suites by right, up zoning land in cities. Given the climate emergency, why not focus on densifying existing neighborhoods instead of contributing to sprawl?
