The Greenbelt is a very important bulwark against the loss of valuable ecological features and agricultural land in Ontario. Developing the Greenbelt will surely weaken Ontario's ecological stability, and make the impacts of flooding more devastating.

Furthermore, NOT developing the Greenbelt was a key promise that the current government made in the most recent election. This change of tack is a betrayal of trust to the people of Ontario.

The proposed legislation also threatens the ability of conservation authorities across Ontario to deliver on their primary function: to ensure the safety of Ontarians and mitigate/avoid devastating flooding, and protect ecological systems.

I do not support this initiative.
