Doug Ford’s plan to pursue development on the Greenbelt is an egregious attack on incredibly important and protected land that would only serve to further destroy precious ecological systems and wildlife in our province, and would negatively affect the environmental health of our country. Not only is his proposal a direct contradiction to his previous comments denying developing along the Greenbelt, it is obvious the project’s purpose to to provide opportunity to his already economically bloated developer constituents like the Cortelluci family. The excuse of economic expansion becomes moot when one considers the damage to our environments would only worsen the problems and consequences of a rapidly changing climate and dwindling wildlife population, making life worse in our communities, and only serving those in the highest offices of power, such as the corporations invested in this.

Expansion into the Greenbelt is not acceptable in any capacity, will be met with the fullest power of upset and protest, and irreparably damage this province and country. There is no economy without a healthy population living in a healthy environment, without the support and will of the people. Ford’s plans are a disgusting display of political and corporate greed and will not stand.
