Once you develop on protected land you can never get it back. The green belt is an important piece of Ontario culture and must be preserved. There is no shortage of land already zoned that can be developed, there is no need to destroy the green belt.
In 2018 " Ford said of his initial position. "The people have spoken. I'm going to listen to them, they don't want me to touch the Greenbelt, we won't touch the Greenbelt."
The people still do not want the government to touch the green belt.
