Firstly, climate change is real and is impacting citizens of this province and the world. This is not a discussion nor a theory but it is a fact. It impacts homes in Ontario through flooding and other extreme weather events, costing this province millions in clean-up and other damages/insurance claims. This in turn affects families trying to get by day to day.

I live in Ottawa and I am going to become a father next year. I want to see my future child experience the joy of skating on the Rideau Canal one day as much as I have had in my life. If climate change continues to worsen though, I don't think they will be able to experience such a joy.

The repealing of the cap and trade program, without the consultations, without a replacement program, or anything of the sort, puts the future generations into reckless endangerment. I do not want them to be forced to clean up the worsening impact of climate change due to this reckless endangerment being put on the province of Ontario without the necessary program to replace Cap and Trade.

A good replacement program would be something like Carbon Fee and Dividend, but as none of these replacement programs are being put forward with the cap and trade cancellation act, then this act would definitely require some serious reconsideration.

Thank you for hearing me out.
