I just wrote a long post about how the greenbelt is biodiverse and integral to the ecosystem including that of the human inhabitants, and that housing needs to be done responsibly, rather than reactively (up not out as most other countries do), etc. and my browser went to the precious page and it all got deleted.
So I’m just putting in a quick message now instead to say that I am completely opposed to the removal of the very limited protected land in Ontario. The decision is short-sighted and actually dangerous amid the climate crisis we are facing. Communities could literally get washed away without the watersheds that protect the paved areas surrounding the greenbelt as we have seen all over the world. We are fortunate to have protected it this long and now it is time to ensure that future generations can also benefit from this vital greenbelt area.
