The proposal to develop the green belt is short sighted and goes again the real needs of Ontarian’s. We are dependent upon plant and animal species for survival and destroying this land 1) during a climate crisis and 2) while half of Toronto sits empty is ludicrous. The provincial government needs to stop predatory landlording, utilize existing unused office space, and design a people first empathy rooted solution to the crisis of houselessness across the province, including safe consumption sites. Bring back license plate fees and focus on solutions that actually make meaningful change for vulnerable community members rather than lining the pockets of people who are already comfortable.
