I believe the Park Management Plan should be updated to match the regulatory authorization of cottage leases in Rondeau Park through 2038.

I am particularly concerned that this ERO question is being flooded with negative comments from environmentalists who have never set foot in Rondeau Park and who have no idea of the reality of the cottages there. Those tens of thousands of comments need to be tossed out. Many of them may have been generated by internet bots and simple submission buttons. Only comments from relevant participants should matter.

The cottages are not harming the environment.
I am a lifetime environmentalist and I have a cottage there.
The cottagers I know are all deeply respectful of the environmental integrity of the park. We chose to be there after all. The Park is our backyard. Of course we want to take good care of it and keep it healthy forever. It is healthy today after over 100 years of cottaging, a clear indication that there are no significant harmful effects of the cottages.

Let’s get to a permanent solution ensuring the cottage community can continue to thrive as quickly as possible. The cottages will be happy to follow any guidelines for improving the integrity of the park environment.

The best option is the land sale already approved by the government before the pandemic started.
Let’s get on with it.
