Not only does this go against Doug Ford’s initial promise NOT to touch the Green Belt, but the narrative about how this will help to ease the housing crisis is nothing but lies. The developments planned for these locations will follow suit with all other developments and be well outside of the majority’s budgets. This will leave these houses to be purchased by people who already own multiple properties, and will then list these as rental properties for which they will charge upwards of $3K for the main and upper floors, and an additional $2500 for the basement (all in addition to utilities costs). I am thoroughly ashamed of the greed in this province, and of the people who voted the Ontario Conservatives in for another term. This has to stop. Rules and boundaries must be put in place, and Doug Ford and his goons need to understand that this province is not “open for business.” It is not open for the privatization of healthcare or education, and certainly not open for the destruction of our natural resources and conservation areas.
