I do not agree with this proposal. I believe the Greenbelt is protected land for a reason - it helps to protect natural, environmental structures and wildlife. Amending the proposal to the greenbelt would allow further deforestation and destruction of wildlife habitats, which would enhance our climate crisis. Maintaining the green belt will also help to mitigate the urban sprawl, as we see in Europe, and encourage the city to focus on revitalization, in making what we already have more efficient, consumer-friendly, and modern.

Rather than allow construction on the protected Greenbelt lands, to help meet the housing need within Ontario, I suggest looking into the empty buildings previously erected, and repurposing them for housing, look into re-managing current, older buildings, demolishing and re-imagining more efficient layouts for multi-homes.

There are many important social, economical and political topics within this conversation that may seem to almost justify the need for this proposal - but allowing human-led changes to the Greenbelt is not the answer.
