It's obvious that this has nothing to do with improving the lives of Ontarians. Corporate greed has made it so that we can't afford the houses that already exist, so giving millions of dollars of taxpayer money to development companies to build even MORE unaffordable housing will not solve anything. It's painful watching our government line the pockets of corporations at the expense of the citizens, especially when doing so will also destroy more of our natural resources.
Heavily tax the rich, heavily tax anybody who owns more than one property for rent, and stop giving money and development deals to multi-million dollar businesses. They have enough. Spend your energy on regulating the companies causing inflation through their obscene greed, and then we'll be able to afford rent on the housing that already exists.
There are lots of houses for sale in my hometown. I see dozens of them every time I go out. The prices on them are laughably high, so those For Sale signs stay up for months. Bring down the cost of housing, raise the minimum wage, and actually help the citizens survive in this capitalist hellscape you've helped enable.
