As a citizen of Ontario and professor in civil engineering, I am deeply concerned about the proposal to develop part of the greenbelt. Not only must this land be preserved for the sake of ecology, flood protection, clean water, and recreation of citizens, but sprawl and low-density housing is extremely costly to built and maintain. An urban expansion will be a major liability for our generation and those to come.
