I am an Ontarian, and I am staunchly opposed to any development on the Greenbelt. This is and should remain permanently protected lands. Not only did the Ontario government promise they would not do this, it is a terrible move environmentally speaking and completely unnecessary to manage the housing situation in Ontario. Listen to actual experts and not just people who tow the Conservative party line.

“The Greenbelt safeguards the vital resources that clean our air and water, reduce our flood risks, provides a home for wildlife, and ensures our communities have green space to explore.“

“The health of the Greenbelt affects The quality of drinking water for more than 7 million Canadians.”

“The Greenbelt absorbs rainwater, manages stormwater during severe weather events, and helps to prevent costly flooding. In times of drought, a healthy, connected system provides a buffer against diseases and other stresses. In a warming climate, the tree cover and vegetation of the Greenbelt keeps ambient temperatures down. City dwellers can find relief from the cooling effect of the region’s river valleys. The Greenbelt’s forests, wetlands, and soils slow the impact of climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.”
