I am dismayed to hear that this proposed redesignation comes with built in beneficiaries who have more interest in lining their pockets than building communities. We should be looking at intensification of downtown Toronto vs building neighbourhoods that will increase the need for cars. Also I’m appalled to see that the ability to appeal is being removed. Displacing the right of citizens for the riches of developers is not democratic. I am disappointed that there’s no support for local agriculture, no moves to reduce the environmental pressure of automobiles. It’s like our elected officials have learned nothing from the supply chain nightmares of covid, nothing from the inflationary price of gasoline.
