Stop trying to open up the Greenbelt to appease your developer friends. There is plenty of land available for growth outside of the Greenbelt and municipalities just completed their growth planning exercises. This has nothing to do with land supply and all about making developers money and the only people who will suffer are the People of Ontario, including farmers.
Opening up the Agricultural Preserve in Pickering is a terrible idea. This is a huge area of land and the purpose of it is to preserve the agricultural uses of those lands next to the Rouge Urban National Park and Seaton. Development of these lands will eliminate prime agricultural lands, ruin the ecological connections between the National Park and Seaton and degrade the headwaters of the watershed. How are you going to "offset" these impacts to environment and agriculture? You can't.
Repeal the proposal to open up the Greenbelt AND to revoke the Central Pickering Development Plan now!
