There are sections if the greenbelt area which could be used for new housing without destroying the land. The problem with developments us that they strip the land bare because it is easier to develop. If u had a responsible builder that could work with the land and trees we could expand land use without destruction. Any land that is suitable for farming should be prohibited from building on. I live in the Niagara region and I see former farm land developed. This is a vital food source and in my opinion we are being reckless is using this land for housing. I lived in the Grey highlands area. Land not suitable for anything in most cases. Small homes on large lots. Most of the soil is gravel like. These are the areas we should be developing. It is a big mistake to take control away from municipalities. They know best the needs of their community. They need more power not less.
