I don't think this is a good idea. I understand and sympathize even empathize with the desire for more affordable homes. However, I don't think this is the way because it's in direct conflict with protecting sensitive lands. We can't just cut away one space and then virtuously apply more land elsewhere. Who gets a say in where this new land will go? Is it accessible for us to enjoy? Have we studied how it will affect the wild life occupying the area and are we guiding that wild life to find a new home?

The idea of uprooting potentially endangered animals and driving them to further extinction in order to build more homes seems cruel, disingenuous and myopic. In Toronto 1 in 10 homes are vacant, why are we not doing something about that? Clearly there is space to house people.

If we keep, even grow the green belt as it is today more Ontarians can enjoy this beautiful dynamic province. Let's stop mixing greed with our intentions to do the right thing.

To reiterate I don't see this as a positive solution to help solve the housing crisis, solving this and saving the environment should not be at odds, especially when armed with the stat above.

Do better, please.
