It is my understanding that municipalities across Ontario have released land for development already, and therefore this change to the greenbelt planned by the Ford government is not required in any way in order to access development lands near existing communities. These protected farmlands and ecosystems are unrecoverable if they are lost. We are experiencing an environmental disaster, and should be protecting and preserving more lands for our health, our future and more importantly, the health and survival of future generations. It is now time to explore options to repurpose under-utilized office spaces in big cities for high density, affordable housing. We cannot stand by and watch our legacy be paved over with unnecessary highways and sprawl. Please do not pass this legislation.
