Please do not allow developers build on the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt is a crucial part of Ontario's environmental ecosystem which has important wildlife species, and the Greenbelt is a crucial part of our drinking water. Building on the Greenbelt will put more of the Greenbelt at risk, from floods due to severe weather, to having less drinkable water. We need to preserve the Greenbelt for our future, and an alternative needs to be building dense housing on the empty parking lots in our suburbs, while supporting the density with good public transit. We shouldn't have urban sprawl, as it creates more of a problem with the emissions from paving asphalt, to the raw materials of timber for building homes, and the emissions from gas vehicles. We need to have transit centered communities that are bikeable and walkable. This is how we have a healthier and happier society. Having urban sprawl disconnects doesn't have any long-term economic planning in place. Having walkable and bikeable cities are crucial to supporting small businesses and creating more economic opportunities, whereas car centered sprawl creates short-term wealth for strip malls, without any concern for the environment. We need to work with the areas that we have built on already, and use the empty parking lots as well as empty offices in Toronto to truly make housing accessible. Building mega mansions on the Greenbelt will only hurt our future and your kids' future, Doug.
