The agricultural and ecological importance of the Greenbelt cannot be understated. Housing availability is critical too, but we can't sacrifice the future for a quick fix. At a time when food insecurity is so high and climate change threatens future food production, we must not trade what little arable land we have for new developments. There are many other alternative solutions to the housing crisis that need to be exhausted before we take the irreversible step of destroying the Greenbelt.
