The construction to take place on the Greenbelt is unnecessary when we have space that has already been used for urban development that could be re-utilised.
Our Greenbelt needs to be preserved for our farmers and what remaining wild roaming animals we have left in our province. With the constant construction of poorly made roads and building that always require expansion and repair, our animals have had to move farther and farther from their first homes. We don't think of them when building our new homes in place of theirs. We take highways and build fences and guardrails that don't allow animals easy access back to safety, we destroy fields and parks and put in gas stations to serve our purposes and leave a small section of green to appease the people.

Once you take the land, it's not easy to give it back. How can you take back a shopping mall to build a forrest? It can be done, but no one will. Why tear down a mall to build an apartment building when we could build poorly made, new homes in the Greenbelt.

We are working to correct the impact we have made on the environment. Building in the Greenbelt rather than redeveloping current urban developments would be counterintuitive. Let's rebuild Ontario starting with what we have to work with, rather than destroying the last bits of green the GTA has to offer.
