The argument that we need to open up the greenbelt to build the lack of housing supply causing our current affordability crisis, has already been extensively studied and disproven countless times. I won’t plead to this government as they’ve well proven themselves unwilling to listen to facts and evidence. Instead, I plead my case to the planners working at MMAH. As a fellow practitioner, I know that our profession is governed by a code of conduct which requires us to always make decisions that are within the public’s interest. Destroying Greenland is vital to preventing costly urban sprawl and protecting essential ecological services, and will cost our region a great deal, economically and environmentally. Assuming that one acre of greenbelt lane is equivalent to another acre of protected land is a childishly false argument, that anyone with a basic understanding of ecology would refute.

Don’t be a pawn to this government’s cronyism. It is blatant clear that this decision is being made solely within the interests of the premier’s wealthy developer donors and is not needed to address our housing crisis.
