I am shocked that the government would cancel the Cap and Trade program AND oppose any plan to impose a price on carbon emissions. Every credible scientist in the world studying climate change acknowledges that the problem is real, caused by humans, and that curbing carbon emissions (if not cutting them out altogether) is the only way to prevent catastrophic climate change.

It is silly to argue that carbon pricing makes ordinary people pay; it makes everyone pay, and that is exactly the point! Without a penalty, nobody will change their behaviour. That is why we have steep fines for people who drink and drive, or who speed.

Without a doubt, people need to pay for their carbon choices, beyond a certain unavoidable usage per person. More importantly, business and industry must pay for their carbon usage, regardless of whether that penalty makes them "uncompetitive" with neighbouring jurisdictions; there will be no real innovation in business unless business is forced to stop dumping the externalities of their production onto the general public and indeed the citizens of world.

Therefore:
I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050, or sooner.
I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
