The Greenbelt should be if anything, expanded with no lands removed from it. The Greenbelt was set up to protect environmentally sensitive lands - adding land elsewhere and building on previously protected land does not have the same effect and goes against everything Ontario voted for when we asked for it in the first place.
By destroying Greenbelt lands (which is irreversible) the government is telling Ontarians that money is more important than our health, our planet, our future.
Please - think beyond today. Save the Greenbelt.
On a related note, allowing the province to arbitrarily overrule municipalities where they disagree on points that are in the municipality's jurisdiction sets a dangerous precedent. Where will it end?
