Removing land from the Greenbelt is unnecessary and irresponsible. Don’t do it. Did we not learn anything from the Walkerton crisis in the early 2000’s? Don’t mess with our wetlands and don’t build large swaths of homes right next to farmland! Sure, we need affordable homes, but building brand new houses on top of pristine farmland and natural resources is the worst possible way to do that. Once you ruin those, they’re ruined, you can’t take it back. We should be building up, not out - build more affordable homes *in the city*. It’s where most immigrants want to live, not out in far-flung subdivisions where there’s no public transit.
Please do not let greedy developers destroy our province. Saying that we *must* move forward with this plan because of the housing crisis is a flat-out lie. There are better options available.
