We are all too far along in our climate change journey to not recognize how damaging this proposal is. We all (governing bodies in particular) are well aware of what needs to be done to get this crisis under control. There are many empty government builds that can be re-evaluated and turned into high density affordable living. We can also look to mandate new condo build must include a percentage of affordable housing. We cannot continue to pave away our natural spaces this will never lead to a better future for all. We have an opportunity to be leaders in environmental policy while ensuring housing for all, these are issues that indeed go hand in hand. The value of leaving a pristine untouched greenbelt for future generations cannot be undervalued. The way we have done things for years and years is not working and it is not sustainable. We can and do better, we should demand better, we deserve better.
