Repealing this bill will lead to a significantly less efficient climate action plan and hinder Ontario’s economic competitiveness. Basic conservative principles say to tax bad goods to reduce consumption: greenhouse gas emissions are one of those. Most of the concerns over this bill are that it includes the words tax - which is not a good enough reason to scrap it. Countless examples exist where tough regulation and pricing lead to greater innovation which will help diversify Ontario’s economy and promote economic resilience. It is our responsibility to future generations that we address climate change rather than hide from the truth and pretend it doesn’t exist.
