Bill 23 is a Draconian travesty, usurping control of the municipal planning process from municipal governments (who most closely represent residents).
The potential negative impacts upon communities, the environment, the real estate market, taxes, and built-heritage properties across Ontario are incalculable, but enormous.
The so-called "housing crisis" in Ontario is a crisis wholly of government making; specifically federal immigration policy.
Rather than throwing Ontario under the bus of this reprehensible piece of poor legislation, the "crisis" can be easily solved by returning to pre-2015 immigration quotas.
There is no need to destroy heritage properties.
