The desperation of our housing crisis is not an excuse to destroy conservation land. The Ontario government is failing young people and future generations if they sacrifice important protect wildlands for the profit of greedy, unscrupulous developers under the guise of a housing initiative. Developers who buy up protected land do not deserve to reap huge profits when that land becomes unprotected. The housing crisis is not the only, nor the most important issue right now: climate change is mounting, it's effects are here now. What does our society stand for if this is how we deal with multiple crises? What does our society value if greedy speculators and developers are raking in profits at the expense of the health of our entire ecosystem? We are not outside the ecosystem, our hubris and lack of foresight seems to be the failing of our people but actually it is just a select few people in power who sell out our entire community. Ontario's government is corrupt and should be ashamed if they profit from selling out the greenbelt.
