I am writing to express my objection to the proposed amendments.
Instead of opening up more environmentally significant areas to further inefficient low-density development - that is what this proposal aims for - we need to first focus on increasing density in already developed areas with existing infrastructure.
These amendments would instead commit Ontario to decades more unaffordable, car-dependent, and ecologically damaging low-density sprawl.
I urge you to reject the proposed changes and instead focus your work on enabling more mid and high density, family-friendly and transit friendly development in the existing zoned areas.
That will ultimately be more beneficial in tackling the housing supply shortage by effectively utilizing existing resources and providing more affordable and transit-friendly options to families that may not be able to afford (or rent) a single-detached house.
Sincerely,
