I live in an area surrounded by beautiful Conservation. I consider myself lucky to have such beauty around me. I am aware of the provincial conservative government's bid to destroy some of these sensitive areas and take away some of the rights of stewardship from those who truly understand and protect theses areas which include habitats for protected species. Switching out one sensitive area for another is not a good answer to the housing crisis. We need to protect our green areas and stop pandering to developers. We don't need more box stores and monster homes. Let's build up a bit more, focus on encouraging seniors to move out of their family-sized homes (this is poorly studied but anecdotally can be seen in all suburban neighborhoods) and into desirable buildings, and stop allowing speculators to sit on vacant properties.
