Hello,

This comment is about ERO: 019-6197

We are completely against the current proposal the government is making to increase housing density. While we respect that it is difficult for people to find affordable housing in our communities, the solution is NOT to further damage the natural environment by adding more development, and to change the character of our suburban communities by lessening green space which will have a detrimental environmental impact by increasing the water runoff that flows down the storm drains. We know that increasing hard surfaces increases water runoff to our aging storm drain infrastructure. THAT IS WHY THE CITY HAS BEGUN CHARGING THE STORMWATER TAX. See link from the City of Mississauga website:
https://www.mississauga.ca/services-and-programs/home-and-yard/stormwat…

In addition, those of us who have paid the highest price for homes based on their location and the character of the neighbourhoods will now have to face reductions in our property value because of increased density.

The solution to this problem is not increasing the density in our communities. The solution is providing adequate government financial assistance to people who are facing housing challenges so they can access the homes we already have available on market AND targeting foreign investors who buy property here and keep it vacant rather than providing rentals. Let's make proper use of the infrastructure we have instead of stressing the environment and changing the character of our neighbourhoods.

My family have been staunch supporters of the Ontario Conservative government until this proposal came out. We now feel that our concerns are being steamrolled over by this government. If this proposal is passed, we will NOT be voting for a Conservative government again and we will be moving our home and our business OUT OF ONTARIO within the next 3 years.
