We strongly oppose rushing through changes to the green belt plan as part of Bill 23. These proposed changes will have lasting impacts that cannot be reversed and must be studied extensively in order to ensure a proper balance between the need for human development and the protection of green space and sensitive ecosystems. During the pandemic our conservation areas were full of people seeking a place to go to manage their physical and mental health in these precious green spaces, they provided us with a refuge from the challenges of these trying times. It’s our responsibility to protect these spaces and ensure future generations also have this refuge available to them, we cannot pave over everything! It seems that the Ford government does not understand this and is not interested in preserving or protecting our precious environment. Please slow down and think about our watershed, the Bruce Trail and our precious conservation areas, these are equally if not more important and must be protected.
