Although I support the desire to improve building stock quickly, to reduce homelessness and/or home insecurity, to allow for Densification, I object strongly to:
eliminating the municipalities ability to require developers to pay charges in lieu of providing appropriate green space and/or sufficient parking. These charges have allowed the municipality to buy green space land & augment community services. Without those components, cities risk degeneration of services and green space critical to mental and physical health. This will also require increased taxes to pay for such land purchase and services, including mental and physical health services.
Much of this smacks of “build faster”, not build “better”.
Please reconsider.
