This bill is a huge mistake. The province has little to no understanding of localized priorities and issues and should allow decisions to be made by the local governments. I support allowing some adjustments to the planning act to allow more higher density builds to happen, but this should come with consultation with local governments and not be a blanket provincial legislation. It is clear that this bill is only to benefit developers and not our communities, the environment or the wellness of anyone. It is clear that this will allow developers to build on the Greenbelt and allow the province to make decisions that are not beneficial to the people.
There are better and more efficient ways to increase housing availability, and this should be done with local governments to allow them to zone areas appropriately for high density development, and should support the development of low income housing and coop owned housing.
I do not support this bill.
