Stop creating problems for future generations, by taking the easy and destructive path today.
We don't need more suburban sprawl, where in the future the ongoing maintenance cost will be subsidized outside of that suburbs https://youtu.be/7Nw6qyyrTeI.
The core problem is that developers have a very hard time increasing actual density in the cities. Work on fixing this difficult problem instead of taking the shortcut of just increasing suburban sprawl. Developers (like everyone else in life) will take the path of least resistance, so make it easier to densify instead of sprawling out.
If you are going to rezone the greenbelt, think of density from the start. Create transit hubs and absolutely no single detached homes in these area. If your goal is to build affordable housing make sure you do it right from the get-go. Don't create suburban sprawl.
This government was elected with the promise that they would not touch the greenbelt, stay true to that promise.
