Instead, of putting an 80% affordability cap, and a maximum time in "affordable housing" to 25 years the provincial government should be promising to add 100,000 affordable housing units per year and rent freezes that tie rent increases to inflation. Ensure that municipal land is not just sold to development companies, but non-profit housing organizations that help in facilitate these projects.

In the Review of A Place to Grow and Provincial Policy Statement it is stated that "It will take both short-term strategies and long-term commitment from all levels of government, the private sector, and not-for-profits to drive change" my above suggestion encompasses this perspective. The current proposals seems to line the pockets of developers and hinder the success of low income individuals, preventing them from thriving in society.

As you know, affordable housing is made up of radicalized, stigmatized, and older adults. Making "affordable rent" 80% of the market price does not put a dent in what affordability actual means in reality. In addition, the proposal continues to keep people in poverty and takes absolutely zero stress on an already overloaded health care system.
