Proposed amendments to the Greenbelt should not be allows to pass. This space is an integral part of our province.
Allowing the use of this land for housing will not solve the problem and will, in the end, have a negative environmental impact on our province.
We need more AFFORDABLE housing. Many of the needed housing space already exists within city limits and these spaces should be redeveloped first. Think of within St. Catharines city limits alone. There’s the old GM spot, the old hospital spot, the old Delta Bingo spot as well as COUNTLESS dilapidated lots and boarded up houses. DEVELOP THESE AREAS FIRST. Thousands of homes at a variety of income levels could be created in these areas - with a benefit to the public, not Ford’s multi-million dollar developer friends.
Ontario should continue to be a place I’m proud to call home for generations to come. Actions like this, to be underhanded and try undermine the citizens of Ontario, do the exact opposite and make me angry and disappointed. Quite frankly, we told you no to development in these areas 4 years ago. And although we shouldn’t have to - we will tell you again…DO NOT DEVELOP THE GREENBELT.
