Bill 23 is wrong in every aspect.
It is the wrong way to get more homes built in Ontario.
The Provincial government is using the housing crisis as an opportunity to quickly and quietly gut the Planning Act, The Conversation Authorities Act and the Development Charges Act.
It will allow development permits to be issued without sober consideration of the permanent effects the resulting housing construction will have on vulnerable species, ecosystems, farmland and watersheds.
In addition, the citizens of Ontario's rights are being trampled as our ability to appeal this process is being severely limited.
Lower development fees will not provide affordable housing - instead, it enriches developers leaving municipalities struggling to provide basic infrastructure to support new home buyers.
We are facing an environmental crisis that cannot be ignored by the Provincial Government of Ontario.
Ontarians are demanding that our elected officials start doing the hard work of developing sustainable solutions instead of the easy work of taking donation money from developers and then giving them carte blanche to destroy what will be impossible to restore.
The plan to expand the Paris Galt Moraine area, which will be designated as Protected Countryside with a Natural Heritage System is just another slight of hand to appease those that believed the Oak Ridges Moraine would be protected.
Stop treating your constituents like naive and gullible children - Paris Galt will not be protected - it is just being shelved by this government for development in the future.
We are not stupid, we know we were lied to and elected officials are lying again now.
I appeal to those Conservatives that have a vision for Ontario that does not include roof tops and asphalt driveways and endless gridlock, to stand up and say NO !!! to Bill 23
Thank you
