It is clear Ontario needs more housing. However, there are currently developments slated outside the Greenbelt that have yet to be completed. The scarcity of supplies and skilled labour to complete these current projects should prevent the Ontario government from severing protected land.
Canada needs to stay firm on its promises to support and protect the Greenbelt. And Ontario needs to recognize that single occupant dwellings in outlying areas are not what the current citizens in need of housing require. As a province we should be looking to build density, through infill grants, benefits to property owners who create more housing. Whether by new build or splitting their property into units. Density and affordability are what Ontario needs for Ontarians.
Stay out of the Greenbelt.
