I have comments on a few of the provisions relating to the Planning Act:
-Allowing up to 3 units per lot as of right is probably the best part of the whole bill. The only criticism I would have of it is it does not go far enough any area zoned residential should permit row houses and apartment buildings of up to 12 units as of right.
-Permitting Higher Density Around is also a very good measure, it would be good to include measures to streamline the approval of transit projects so as to make it harder for people to appose transit simply to prevent the increased density.
-Third Party Appeals should be permitted in cases of large (in total land area) greenfield developments.
-While it is reasonable to reduce some types of public meetings, draft plans of subdivision should still have them.
-Aggregate operations should not get any special treatment with regards to the 2 year rule.
-The changes related to Conservation Authorities should be removed, they are a step in the wrong direction.
